Jonah and the whale and fishing with daddy!

It was a beautiful day today. We told the boys on the way to church this morning that we could go fishing this afternoon. Well at church we have a kingdom time which is a kids sermon where all the kids go to the front of the church and the pastor does a little kids sermon. I go up with them b/c they are so young and like to stomp and jump off the steps if I am not there to wrangle them! Well pastor starts off with "today we are going to talk about Jonah, does anyone know who Jonah is?" You could see the excitement in Nathans face. The story of Jonah and the whale is his favorite bible story. You could literally see his eyes light up. A minute into the sermon Nathan had everyone in the congregation smiling. Pastor asked "So what did God do to punish Jonah for running away?" Nathan confidently says " A whale ate him up..CHOMP". He was so proud. Brian said as the sermon went on and he was talking about how the people were bad.. N was making his sad face.. cracks me up! He even made the "spitting Jonah out sound" when pastor asked what happened. AND.. he held up 3 fingers when pastor asked how many days Jonah was in the whale. It was one of the proud moments as a mom when you say... I AM doing something right with this kid!

Then 30 mins later they got into a fight over a barrel of monkeys during a prayer, and I had to walk out of church with Jacob like 4 times. What can I say ... a day in the life of a toddler mom.

Anyhow we went fishing and Brian "conveniently" forgot my pole... and remembered his fly rod! Show off caught 4 fish for the boys. THEN had the nerve to ask why I had go no hits on my worms!!! I was fishing with a broken toddler pole and trying to keep our children from plummeting into the lake! Well it all worked out we had a wonderful time and made some fun memories and hope to have many more down at our pond! Our neighbors even came out to join in the fun! Jacob just loves the pretty girls and Nathan just idolizes the neighbor boy. So much fun for all of us!
