3 ring circus...

I do not know why but Jacob refuses to play w/ baby toys. He insist on playing with all of Nathans big boy toys. Today he was determined to sit in Nathans red car and play like his big brother. He kept smacking his fingers in the door, or slipping off the seat and getting stuck under the steering wheel. I finally baby proofed it by sticking a pillow under the car so  couldn't move, and it kept Jacob from slipping under the car. I go to gather clothes to put in the wash machine and walk back into the living room to find this circus act!
Never a dull moment in my house... never.
Later today Jacob climbed into the pantry and pulled a box of spaghetti noodles out on to the floor, Nathan looks me right in the eyes and says, "OH CRAP".  I replied... " yeah... oh Quack". Lets just say he wasn't fooled. :(

Vegas Baby.... turned into Vegas w/ babies!

Well the Spence Family survived our Las Vegas Trip. It started at midnight the day we were going to leave. Jacob woke up screaming, after about an hour I figured out that it was indeed an earache. We were literally up the entire night. We got him to the doctor at 8am.. got medicine and were off to Austin to pick up Granny. Half way there it was evident that Jacob was NOT going to take that medicine and he was not happy about it. He screamed the entire way there. We picked up different meds in Austin and got them in Jacob successfully before we got to the airport. Nothing went smooth until we got to the airport, and at take off my stomach was so queezy. I just knew Jacob would scream the entire way there (3hours!) But at the first movement of the plane Jacobs eyes rolled into his head and he slept the entire way.
Nathan did great for a two year old. He must have opened and closed the window 400 times. I would have thought he would have watched monsters on his DVD player but instead he spent the whole time pushing all the buttons on it and opening and closing it.

While in Las Vegas, we enjoyed the pool,
and sight seeing at MGM GRAND'S Lion Habitat, the M&M store (which Nathan LOVED) and everyone's favorite the Mandalay Bay Shark Reef.

Brian decided that life wasn't wild enough so he thought he would JUMP OFF A BUILDING! What a Nut~~~! Check out the video!

We visited freemont street, and other fun attractions, and lost our play money there!

But had a ball doing it. I am addicted to the wheel of fortune slot machines! We saw 2 shows while we were there and had some fun out by ourselves while Granny watched the kiddos!  Anyhow, we got a lot of exercise and were all worn out but somehow came home pretty rested. Although 20 mins before we got home at 1am on Saturday morning, Nathan started the inconsolable screaming that I knew to be an ear infection. So now he is on meds. We are all recovering now, but WOW what a trip. We could not have done it with out Granny (my mom)~!! But I think it will be a while before we venture off on another trip w/ 2 little ones, at least that far away from home!

Nathan's learning too fast... and sometimes too slow!

So I am cracking up... Nathan has a whistle he got from God knows where. He brings it to me to blow and then I tell him to blow in it. He blows really wimpy then makes a "eeeeeeeee" noise simulating a whistle. Its SOOOO funny. I tried for two days to get him to do it... he just doesnt get it! So darn cute. He is learning so much day to day.

We had another wow moment that only a parent can appreciate. He was sitting on the potty for like 3 mins trying to go... he bends his head down and looks, then sits up and looks at me and says "Mom poo poo in butt?"  And what do you say.to that..  ? .. " Yes nathan your poo poo IS in your butt!" These kids!

Nathan is really into cooking lately too. He pulls up his chair and hits the button on the microwave to heat his food and milk. He pulls it up to help me cook too. Its too funny! He loves to break eggs and make pancakes and eggs. He really loves the food processor too!

Crappy Thursday... Happy Friday!

So my thursday started out great. Going to meet Barb and the boys at the water park at 9:00am (which in Dawn and Barb language means leave the house at 9:15..LOL) I had the kids fed and dressed and pull up to the water park at a mere 9:30... realizing I was the first one to arrive. Victory! I was so excited I thought to myself... I will just wait here in the a/c until they get here. Then out of no where ... something catches my eye. Baby food? On my center console? How did that get ... then it hit me .. that's SH*T!

What the He**.. Where the .. DOH!!! When I put little guy on my hip to put him in the car he leaked all over the back of my T-shirt. It was all over. I called to explain my "situation" and needless to say after driving back home.. I arrived late... as usual.

Nathan, cute little nugget he is, stops playing in the water to tell me he needs to go TeeTee. So we walk to the edge of the cement and pee in the grass. Yes it was more convenient. Yes I know one day this will bite me in the ....you know what.... when he does it in public, like school. But we are just going to have to take that chance! Here are some fun pics... love the butt crack!

So Friday some of my Dental Hygiene friends from Houston came to visit! The sweethearts drove all the way from Galveston practically. I have not seen them since May of 2005!
Nothings changed a bit! So good to catch up w/ good friends. I cooked my two, non-red meat eating friends baked chicken, (really girls in texas.. PEOPLE EAT RED MEAT) and we chatted and had a great time. We took them to spoons, our favorite yogurt place to eat some yummies! Dont know why but whenever my kids set foot in that place they go nuts till around 10pm. In all the craziness last night jacob started saying, "DADA"

New milestones

Well Nathan pooped in the potty twice in one day. It wasn't much but I think maybe we got the point across?? We shall see.(We have even resorted to making "Mimi" the sheep help out..see pic below)
Nathan met another fun milestone. Yesterday at GiGi's he climbed right out of the pack n play. So let the fun games of naptime and sleeping at friends houses begin!! Now nothing is safe. Including Jacob. Nathan climbed in and out yesterday playing w/ Jacob.
Speaking of Jacob that little squirt is growing like a weed. He is officially cruzin! He pulls up on everything and just starts walking around. He has no fear! He always wants to be where brother is at. He is getting so agile that he even got the baby camera/monitor off the wall and into his crib. Guess i have to do some toddler proofing now that he is reaching and grabbing at everything.
We leave to go to Las Vegas in two weeks and i am getting nervous. I hope we all do good on the plane. Granny (my mom) is going to help w/ the kids and give mom and dad a night out seeing Vegas!! Should be fun, and I am sure tiring at the same time! Please pray for the poor people flying w/ us!

Little water fun

I took the boys to the water park today w/ some friends. Nathan took a while to wake up and warm up to the idea but they seemed to have a blast!
We had a fun day today... daddy spent some good fun daddy time while mama got outside and mowed late night while it was cool outside. We got some good reading time pics, and tooth brushing videos!
I cant believe just how big they both are. Jacobs third tooth (UL) seems to be poking through as of today so i now have a three toothed baby! We play w/ potatoe head everyday... he puts everything in the right place...
Jacob is just biting and teething on everything he can get his hands on he loves this toy!!

Trip to the store...

So we went on one of our many trips to kroger a week(yes i make a list but w/ 2 kids you never know if you can get it all... hell your lucky to remember the list). I for whatever reason decided that today i would brave putting both children in the car buggy. Nathan insisted we get a blue one. I strapped little guy in and away we went. (yeah i seem to have skipped that part where i buckled nathan in...) So here we go... i realize in the veggie section i have a rear end of an elder child hanging out of a car and kicking his feet. Technically it was way past his naptime.. and i only needed 7 things so i just let it slide so we didn't have tears of sadness. In the canned good Jacob figured out he could honk the horn w/ his head and that went on for 2 isles.  I got all the way to the checkout when Nathan bolted out of the car and ran around the counter. There i found him hugging a 3 foot M&M display. The store manager almost wet his pants. Nathan proceeded to give the giant M&M a hug, a kiss and few high 5's. I tried to get him back in the car but the tears stared coming. He started to feed the M&M thats when i got this great pic. Needless to say we left the store w/ a bag of M&M's. AND THAT LADIES AND GENTLEMEN IS WHY YOU DONT USE M&M'S TO POTTY TRAIN YOU KIDS! I have a feeling i will be buying a lot of M&M's in the future! (thanks yvette!!) For those lucky people who live in Bryan/College Station.. if you enter kroger and hear a child yelling "BEEP" its just nathan simulating the me at the checkout. He also insists on "SWIPING" my amex when we pay. Lets just say don't do things you think are cute unless you will always think its cute!
Then this morning in the mayhem of getting up late (or rather on time because i do it weekly) for bible study w/ barb, I was getting food ready for Jacob and asked Brian to make some toast for Nathan. Brian from the kitchen says " Why is there a rock in the toaster??" to that i replyed... "well I guess nathan put it there when he was placing the eggo waffle in the toaster the day before". See nathan collects rocks when we go on walks at night. Usually its dads job to take them out of the wagon.. well the night before just Nathan and i had gone and i forgot to take the rocks out. So apparently when i sat him on the counter to put it in the toaster ... old freddie fast finger (as i lovingly call him) placed his eggo and his rock in the toaster. Lets just say i take a while to wake up in the morning!!

Finally started one...

Well i figured that its about time i started documenting all the fun phrases, and new words and teeth that are going on in the Spence family. We have been busy as Nathan just completed his first 2 week swim lesson course, complete w/ a certificate and underwater pic!! He is doing fantastic. He will dive underwater by himself to fetch stuff, he scoops his arms and kicks his feet. We are no where near swimming by ourselves... but its a great start for his age for sure. His favorite is jumping in and going underwater.. and would have been the water slide until ... "the incident"!! His second trip down the slide he turned sideways and his head caught the end of a screw in the slide (way to go city of bryan might want to use flat sided screws next time!) Anyhow... nothing a cookie and toy story couldn't fix. We have some great pics of the goose egg though.

Jacob is crawling all over the place and pulling up on everything. He is hard to keep up with at the moment. He is getting ready to get his upper two teeth, and boy are we earning them hour by hour. He has been sooo cranky! But this kid is amazingly happy and a delight to have. His hair is coming in a bit thicker, and he is eating finger foods like a champ, though he gags alot at anything thick. Jacob started on this last friday with the "bababababa" which is not quite mama and not quite dada but a nice mix of it and a sheep! (Nathan didn't say mam until the week before Jacob was born!! )

Nathan is picking up talking a bit faster than i would like. I tell him thank you and he says "I welcome" which makes me laugh. He had learned "I want to go home","Go to the car" and "Watch tv". But our favorite two phrases are " MOM MEATLOAF" and "TEENIE WEENIES" which he loves to yell at the top of his lungs when prompted to do so. He also asks in the mornings "mom get up, break eggs, make cake cakes (pancakes)" He is growing up so fast. We are currently potty training. Most days we pee in the potty all day, but i am beginning to think the will be in diapers until he is 16 for doing #2!! I am staying patient but ... am needing serious prayers.
