Tug at my heart strings.

So ever since Nathan was born he has loved to be held, rocked and cuddled. He was just what I thought a baby should be. I loved letting him sleep on me, and rocking him to sleep even at any hour of the night.

Then Jacob Tanner came along. He is NOT a rocking cuddle baby. He would rather lay there by himself to go to sleep. He doesn't snuggle unless he has a fever or is deathly ill. He only sleeps on me if I take him sleeping from a car seat and am transferring him to sleep in his bed. LOL... In the last 4 months he says he wants to be rocked to sleep.. however its not for the snuggle time I so crave its for his own little Jacob time with mama. Which is great. However the one thing Jacob LOVES to do is give kisses...aka "smootches". About two weeks ago when he gives me these wet snotty kisses, he now says "mootch" as his lips hit mine. Its so incredibly sweet and just feels like "our" thing.

I have the most incredible two boys I know. The are different in so many ways, however both very kind at heart. The kindness you cant teach. I love that about them.
They can be little terrors, but today they were the best kids ever. We had about 4 mins of silence today in this house hold. It was because they both ate all their dinner and got a scoop of ice cream. Cherished moments!!!

Nathans first JOKE!

So he walks up to me while i am making my delish dish for bunco and says "Mom what does a cat say when he gets a boo boo?" .......

(wait for it....... )

MEOUCH!

LOLOLOL

belly aches and picky eaters!

So for whatever reason Jacob has not been wanting to eat for the past 3 months. He will eat fruit and yogurt but that is the only constants in his diet. He will occasionally eat fish sticks, tuna fish, pickles, cheese sticks, macaroni, corn dogs, nuggets, or anything he can dip in ketchup. But there are seriously days he eats a piece of toast or pop tart and that's it.. Soooooo frustrating. Brian said he would rather have a kid w/ discipline issues than a non eater. (i don't know that i feel that way since i am with them all day~! LOl.. but there are days i want to cut his head off with a butter knife when he wont eat!!!) So we have just learned to laugh about it.

So yesterday for lunch Jacob ate an entire adult meal from Chick-fil-a. I was very impressed he woofed it down quickly. In return of course nathan ate little of nothing. Nathan however will eat ANYTHING. This 3 year old eats salad, any bean including lima beans, raw onions w/ bbq, crabs, shrimp, steak... and all veggies.. even LOVES trees 'n cheese (broccoli). So its rare but i dont worry when Nathan doesn't eat.

So for dinner last night Brian and I were eating left overs. I thought I would be the coolest mom ever and make them hot dog weenies w/ cheese in the middle w/ rasp and blue berries, corn and green beans. Nathan was being whiny at first. I decided to be a decent human being and offer to share my peppermint blue bell ice cream (that i had been secretly hoarding in the outside freezer) with who ever finished everything on their plate. Well that was enough motivation for N... he started eating, finished EVERYTHING and got ice cream! Jacob on the other hand ate NOTHING for dinner ... and also ate nothing but oj for breakfast. (he did however clean his plate at lunch again today? wth?) I did fill another kid bowl with ice cream and make him watch me eat it. He so thought it was for him.. but he has to learn you have to eat to get the sweet treats!

But the funny part is Nathan was crying this morning around 7AM. I went into his room to check on him. He told me that his "belly hurt" and that I "fed him too much ice cream so he got a belly ache". What a ham! Who complains about eating too much ice cream? really? He might have been switched at birth, don't know if he is can be related to me. I can eat a half gallon in one sitting. I was born in Brenham you know!

Day with Gigi!

We packed up and headed out to spend that day with GIGI (my grandma and the boys great grandma) She is 89 and is so much fun and such a HUGE part of my kids lives. They always enjoy going out to the farm and even shopping in town with Gigi. Every time we go into Kohl's they yell for her.. they used to think she lived there! LOL...
Well today I tried to shoot some squirrels for Gigi.. I don't do this for fun.. well kinda.. but I do have a purpose. They eat her peaches and pears so I simply shoot them so I  A) don't have to have my summer conversations with her dominated by squirrel talk B) so i can eat all the yummy things she makes with the peaches and pears.

So today I ended up with the score dawn 2 squirrels 0 because my honey bought me a new scope for my 22. I shot the first one but grazed him. But got him on the second try a few mins later. Then about two hours later managed to knock his girlfriend out of the tree while uncle bill was watching with one shot. Jacob would tell the story as he shot it.. check this out.

Anyhow we threw rocks in the pond, checked on our fish in the water trough, kicked moles mounds, leaves, acorns and anything else we could find. We rode bikes, played ball, walked down to get the mail (.5 mile walk) shot squirrels. Well lets just say we were busy! Here are some fun pics and videos
J loved hitting the outdoor chime w. his bat... so funny!

looks like n is dragging j to the water.. n is actually holding j.. and j is yelling CHEESE!!!

way back from getting mail.. j had to hold Gigis hand

riding on the driveway

checking for fish!

Liar Liar.. pottys on fire!

So last night Brian brings the kids back to take a bath. Jacob had a "bunch" of wooden cookies in his hands. Brian placed them behind him and got the kids in the bath. After wards he took them out ONE at a time and watched them run out of the bathroom...cookies untouched. We dressed them in the living room and Jacob was yelling "cookie time" trying to make us eat wooden melissa & doug cookies. Brian told him to go to the bathroom and get his other cookies. He runs back there.... comes running back empty handed. So Brian asked him to go get them again and went with him. The cookies were GONE. Brian said "Jacob where are the cookies?" Jacob replies " Cookies in potty, I flushed the cookies, Yeah!" and claps. He proceeds to stick to the story for about 20 mins. I was suspicious that he didn't do it because of how he acted when pooh bear went into the dryer (old blog... good read!)
I then reminded Brian of when Nathan told me he swallowed the battery and 3 hours later and a 600 dollar er bill.. we found out he lied. So I anxiously went searching through the house. In 20 mins I was able to locate 2 cookies totaling 11. Missing one cookie... we were still frantic that one went down the potty and could be a problem. Brian would have pulled the toilet off if it hadn't been grouted to the floor.  LOL... good thing he didn't because we got home from  Mothers Day Out today and Jacob was playing with his kitchen in the play room when he came Smoking out of the room yelling "I FOUND IT..... ITS COOKIE TIME" There in his clammy little finger was the 12th and final cookie. So the potty is safe for now...... I am glad we have a little liar on our hands!!! Whew!!!!

Sorry its sideways but its pretty cute! Love that Jacob hambone tanner!!

That JUST happened... again!!! another reason i hate kroger!

So my family went on a late night Kroger shopping trip. We pulled into the parking lot driving behind a mini-van (not hating on the minivan.. but wow.. this was bad). Well they are adding onto the gas station there and for some reason with all that maintenance they decided to add some parking stop barrier (the concrete thing that you put your tires against.. hell what ever its called) So we watch JOE cool in his mini-van decide that he is going to straddle the concrete barrier and does. We start gasping at the amount of fluid gushing out of his car as he continues to keep driving. (NOTE: yes ladies and gentlemen.. HE. For the record i did think it was a woman.)
We pulled up by the guys (yes to make it worse it was two guys w/ 2 kids in carseats!) Brian  explained that their car was leaking just in case they didn't realize it when the mini van was gutted like a fish. Brian noticed it was transmission fluid not oil. The guy replys "I just had my transmission replaced".. OUCH.. your about to again!

This guy is one lucky guy .. out of all the ones he could have straddled... he straddled the only one w/ 3 inches of re-bar hanging out the top of it... i couldn't help but get pics....

do horses have a seat?

So I was explaining to Nathan that we are going to the Peter's ranch tomorrow w/ Mrs.Barb. I told him we can ride the mule, horses, play w/ the ginuea, geese, dogs, tortoise or cows. I am rocking him and he says "Mom do horses have a seat on their backs?" I explained that we put the seat on their back so we can ride them easier. Then he told me he needed to put his "boots in the stir-ups" but that he wasn't big enough. I was cracking up. He was quiet for about 30 seconds then he said "mom, giraffes have a long neck, but they don't have seats?" So random.
